The Institute
INDCS is dedicated to advancing the sustainable, resilient, strategic and responsible development of data center infrastructure in Brazil.
Developing data center infrastructure is a strategic agenda for Brazil’s future. INDCS works to make this process sustainable and resilient, with responsible management of natural resources and concrete benefits for Brazil’s people and territories.
How INDCS began
INDCS was born out of a structural transformation: the rapid growth of the digital economy, artificial intelligence and demand for data processing is making data centers an increasingly strategic infrastructure for the development of nations.
Brazil has significant conditions to take a leading position in this landscape, but this expansion also brings challenges related to the use of energy, water and land, impacts on communities and territories, infrastructure, security, regulation, technological development and the country’s digital sovereignty.
The Institute was created to contribute to this agenda in a technical, independent and collaborative way, bringing together academia, government, the private sector and civil society and turning knowledge into studies, proposals and initiatives that support the sustainable development of Brazil’s digital infrastructure.
Mission
To bring together academia, government, the private sector and civil society so that the development of data centers in Brazil takes place with sustainable management of natural resources and protection of the environment, creates concrete benefits for people and territories and strengthens the country’s digital sovereignty.
Vision
To be a national and international reference in the sustainable development of data centers, helping Brazil become a global hub for digital infrastructure recognized for innovation, the sustainable use of natural resources, the protection of the environment and the creation of value for the country.
Values
The principle that guides all of INDCS’s work, reconciling digital infrastructure, sustainable management of natural resources and concrete benefits for people and territories.
