Focus areas

Five areas of work, with Sustainability as the principle common to all of them.

Common principle

Sustainability is the principle that guides all of INDCS’s focus areas. The Institute holds that the development of data center infrastructure in Brazil must reconcile the growth of digital capacity with the sustainable management of natural resources, the protection of the environment and concrete benefits for people and territories, strengthening the country’s resilience, economic development and digital sovereignty.

Promote the development of sustainable and resilient data centers, focused on the efficient management of energy, water, land and materials and on generating benefits for the territories that host them. This area covers renewable energy, the supply chains for equipment and inputs, benefits for local populations and the reduction of social and environmental impacts across the life cycle of each facility.

Provide technical input to shape and improve public policies and regulatory frameworks for data center infrastructure, fostering dialogue among government, industry, academia and civil society.

Produce and support studies, data and analyses on the data center sector, in collaboration with universities, researchers and experts in Brazil and abroad, making the results accessible to government, industry and society and strengthening decisions grounded in evidence.

Foster innovation, training and the development of the national supply chain linked to digital infrastructure, contributing to knowledge, technology, investment, skilled jobs and economic development in Brazil.

Promote debate on the importance of data centers for the country's digital transformation, including security, resilience, connectivity, data sovereignty and computing capacity, seeking to reconcile the sector's expansion with Brazil's strategic interests.
